Holiday Season's Bring Out The RAK's In People

There is something about a Holiday Season that makes people do great things for others. A prime example of this just recently happened to a good friend of mine.

This friend, like the rest of us, was on his way into the mall during the cluster you-know-what of last minute shoppers to pick something up. During his sprint into the black hole (aka the mall) his wallet somehow flew out of his pocket without him knowing.

Later on that day he got a call from a total stranger letting him know that he had dropped his wallet and was calling to let him know he would hold it for him at the mall until he could come and get it. Immediately he ran drove over and met the man outside one of the shops. He thanked him profusely, but before the man gave him back the wallet he quized him on some of the information he had read on his driver's license to be totally sure he was giving the wallet to the proper owner. He passed the test (thank God) and the man handed over the wallet and a Holiday RAK was complete!

What I think is so cool about this particular RAK is that not only did this guy not take it, but he took the time to seek out the owner, wait patiently for the owner to get there and then quizzed him on the information from the driver's license to make sure it was the right person. Just awesome!

Happy Holidays From The RAK

Hey guys! Hope everyone had a great holiday!! Lots to report here from the RAK HQ aka the mancave. First off the first item of The RAK List has been crossed off since the last post.

#3. Give someone a ride home who is out of the way

This one developed perfectly. At work, sudden snow storm at end of day, fellow employee with no ride and would be forced to wait in the snow for an hour and a half for the bus to get there... CHILD PLEASE!!!!!!
We both hopped in my car and drove 45 minutes further away from my original route home and got him home well before he would have standing at the busstop. Mission accomplished!!!! (took damn near 2 hours to get home which normally takes me 45min)

I also have added the 11th item to the list thanks to an anonymous reader.

#11. Shovel someone's driveway

Thanks anonymous for the idea!!!! It most certainly will be done.

Later this week I'm going to write about a phenomenal RAK that happened to a good friend of mine.

1-10

My apologies for the inconsistency the past week. I am currently dealing with some serious family issues that are going to unfortunatelty hinder me to give daily updates. I will however do my very best to update the RAK List when each item gets crossed off, as well as post great RAK stories I hear along the way. With all that being said I figured I would post the first 10 items on the official RAK LIST.

1.) Buy someone's groceries
2.) Pump someone's gas
3.) Give someone a ride home that is out of the way
4.) Send an edible flower bouquet to someone at work
5.) Carry an older man/woman's grocery bags to their car
6.) Help a high school student get a college scholarship
7.) Pick up a random couples dinner bill
8.) Buy a round of shots for a group of friends
9.) Leave a 100% tip
10.) Rake a neighbors leaves

LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!!!!

The List

Hey 1 follower!!!!! Just wanted to give you a heads up that there is not going to be a daily post this week. Rather I am going to come up with a list of 100 RAK's to be completed. The RAK List. Perhaps you can join me in completing it because the goal of this blog is to get everyone involved in RAKing people.

Side note: Email your RAK's or any RAK ideas you would like on the list to youvebeenrakd@gmail.com or follow us on Twitter @YouveBeenRAKd

Weekends: A Chance to Recognize Great RAK's/RAKers

Chad Ochocinco, star wide reciever of the Cincinatti Bengals, has been called a lot of things from fans and reporters. Cocky, arrogant, egotistical, and someone who appears to be more interested in being an entertainer rather than a team player.
In actuality Chad Ocho-Cinco may go down as one of the greatest RAKers of all time!

In an age where our sports heroes seem to be getting more press about cheating, using performance enhancing drugs, committing adultery with 3,000 different women, and even sending pictures of their "junk" to female reporters, Ocho-Cinco reminds us that athletes are not ALL NUTS!!! (no pun intended)
During his career Chad has RAK'd literally THOUSANDS of people. He has done things like take 85 people out to dinner at a fine dining steakhouse, taken hundreds of fans out for shopping sprees, bought and gave away tickets to the movies for an entire theatre, and even bought and gave away the remaining 1,200 tickets to a Bengals home game so the entire city would avoid a TV blackout!!! Even after all of this perhaps his greatest RAK went to a nine year old boy named Ruben.

Ruben St. Hilaire, Jr. is a 9 year old boy who lives in a homeless shelter in New York City with his mom. He wrote a letter to Chad about possibly getting an autographed jersey. Chad, of course, was gracious enough to send one over right away. This would have been a real nice RAK all in itself, but it was what he did after recieving Ruben's follow-up letter that went down in the RAK Hall of Fame (click on the link below).

Chad Ocho-Cinco is a guy who, when it's all said and done, will be remembered as one of the best WR's to ever play the game as well as the most eccentric WR of all time. But perhaps best of all he will be remembered as the King of RAK's. I believe I speak for all sports fans when I say "Chad, you da man!!!"

Animals Need to be RAK'd Too

Today I decided to shift gears a bit and create a RAK for man's best friend. My girlfriend and her family are out of town this weekend and Buddy unfortunately couldn't make the trip. Buddy is a family man and I knew he must have been feeling pretty sad so on my way home from work I decided to pick him up a treat.

1 noise making duck=1 very happy dog= 1 RAK

Eat the hell out of that duck Buddy, you've just been RAK'D!!!!!

Sometimes a RAK Fall's Right in Your Lap

How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.  ~Anne Frank

Today's RAK was to have lunch with a complete stranger. This goal was not accomplished because of a complete cluster F&%@ at work. I was forced to eat at my desk and at first was completely down until an unexpected RAK presented itself. A colleague of mine had completely forgotten his lunch (LIGHTBULB!!!!!!). Lukily I had packed just enough to fix this problem. Together we shared an almond butter and honey sandwich, carrot sticks, and pomegranate. It felt like being back in elementary school and hooking your buddy up with a snack pack (a truly awesome feeling).

Even though the immediate goal of the day was not completed, the end result was a success and that's all that matters.

DAILY RAK COMPLETE!!!
